History of Shri Govind Dev Ji Temple

Radha Govind Dev Ji Temple Jaipur – It is said that this idol of Govind Dev Ji was first established in Vrindavan. But due to Aurangzeb’s attempt to destroy all the Hindu temples, Sawai Jai Singh, the king of Jaipur, shifted this idol to Jaipur.
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s disciple Shivaram Goswami first took Radha Govind in a bullock cart from Vrindavan to Govindpura in Sanganer. After this, when Jai Singh II settled Jaipur, Radha brought Govind Ji to the Suraj Mahal of the City Palace. After the construction work of the Govind Dev Ji temple was complete, the idol of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was install on the right side of the idol of Lord Krishna.

Shri Govind dev Giri Ji Maharaj- Shri Bajarnath Ji was the great-grandson of Lord Krishna Ji. 5600 years ago when Shri Bajranath was 13 years old he asked his grandmother (Lord Krishna’s wife) how Lord Krishna looked. Then he made three images of Lord Krishna based on the description given by his grandmother (Lord Krishna’s wife). The first image in which only the feet looked like that of Lord Krishna. In the second image, only the chest looks like that of Lord Krishna. In the end, he created the third image which exactly resembles Lord Krishna.

All three images made by Shri Bajrnath are installed at different places.

  1. The name of the first image is Madan Mohan Ji which is established in Karauli, Rajasthan.
  2. The name of the second image is Gopinath Ji which is established in Puri Basti Jaipur.
  3. The third divine image is that of Shri Govind Devji himself, which is located in the City Palace complex in Jaipur.
