Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh-Prince Philip was born on 10 June 1921 in Mon Repos, Corfu, to Greek and Danish royal families. Philip was the husband of Maharani Elizabeth II, the Queen of the United Kingdom. Prince Philip was married to Queen Elizabeth II on 20 November 1947 in Westminster Abbey, London. Philip died on 09 April 2021. His life span was (10 June 1921 – 09 April 2021).

Philip (who was a member of the Gluxburg dynasty) was born into the Greek and Danish royal families. He was born in Greece. At just eighteen months old, Philip’s family was expelled from the country.

He joined the British Royal Navy in 1939 at the age of 18, after completing his studies in France, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Philippe first met Princess Elizabeth in 1934, when Princess Elizabeth was only 13 years old. During the Second World War, he served in the Mediterranean and Pacific troops of the Navy.

Post-war, George VI granted Philip the marriage of his daughter Princess Elizabeth. Prior to the official announcement of their engagement in July 1947, they had to renounce their Greek and Danish royalty to become fully normal British citizens.

Philip then adopts his maternal grandfather’s surname, Mountbatten. his maternal grandfather was named Louis Mountbatten, Prince of Prince Battleburg. Philip married Princess Elizabeth on 20 November 1947 after five months of engagement.

Before his marriage, he gave his Royal Highness and King George VI proclaimed him Duke of Edinburgh, Earl of Merioneth, and Baron Greenwich. he was conferred with the title “His Royal Highness” and the Duke of Edinburgh.

After Princess Elizabeth became queen in 1952, Philip left the post of commander and all active military service. His wife made him the prince of British in 957 AD.

Queen Elizabeth and Philip had four children. (1) Charles, Prince of Wales (2) Anne, Royal Princess (3) Prince Andrew, Duke of York (4) Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. He also has eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Philip has been a patron, president, and member of over 780 organizations and has also served as chairman of The Duke of Edinburgh Award. He was a long-reigning British emperor and the oldest male member of the British royal family. He fully retired from his royal duties on 2 August 2017. Philip remained just two months away from his 100th birthday.
